Presentation Details: I have a masters of science in wellness and have been speaking nationally (keynotes) for 20 years. I work with police, fire, EMT, healthcare and dispatch as well as many other industries and am currently designing a resilience course I was asked to create for fire, police and EMT at our local college Academies. I am also going to write my own textbook with the title I used for this session. (I am the author of two books.) I have been volunteering at the EMS Academy and nursing school for over 10 years teaching assertiveness and stress since there is NOTHING already in the curricula for it. With the burnout rates, that was shocking to me, so I offered to do it.
I have been virtually teaching resilience skills covering - mindfulness, optimism, grit, self-compassion, dealing with change and gratitude more than ever since the pandemic began. After interviewing people in the field for the course I am designing, I realized a large number of issues (divorce, alcoholism, domestic violence, pornography, gambling, etc.) are a result of not practicing self-care and not even knowing where to start. And from what I have researched, little if any of this is taught (proactively) in the Academy. I am planning on changing that.
I use personal experiences and research during my sessions to share what I have learned on the topic so the attendees leave with an action plan to incorporate it into their own lives. My format is power point with photos (most my own) and artwork from my artist sister (she is a flight nurse). I have worksheets available for the participants to fill out during and after the presentation because I want them to USE what I presented.
I was doing research for my course and came upon your site. And here I am!
Recommendations found on Linkedin. My website is www.happypeoplewin.com. Also I have never filled out a RFP since I am 100% word of mouth, so would love any feedback!
