Presentation Details: In this session, participants will learn about school based CISM responses to critical incidents. With the unprecedented changes to the educational environment that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the education arena the Grant Wood Area Education Agency CISM Team created procedures to assist with and manage crisis events both in person and virtually. Virtual meetings, new procedures, and resources will be discussed.
Specifically, the Grant Wood Area Education Agency CISM team reviewed and revised resources in the midst of the school closures at the beginning of the pandemic. These resources include self-care tips and how to respond to families and students during the COVID-19 closures. During weekly leadership team meetings we developed resiliency interventions to support our own agency and protocols for responding to schools during a pandemic. In this session, we will share practices for responding virtually to a crisis, interventions used in our own agency to promote resiliency and self-care, lessons learned from responding to staff and students in a virtual setting, and how our leadership team made these resources available to our school districts.
Upon completion, participants will be able to
