Michael Perlmutter is a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN and an aspiring Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and EMS physician. He has worked on the ground and in the air as a critical care and flight paramedic for the last ten years. During this time, he served as a Field Training Officer and contributed to protocol development, education, and training initiatives. He has lectured at EMS and Emergency Medicine conferences in the United States and abroad, speaking about his research and topics of particular interest, which include advanced airway management, acute heart failure, sepsis, and the many uses of ketamine. He is also active in the Free Open Access Medical Education (#FOAMed) movement, where he observes, comments, and contributes via his Twitter handle, @DitchDoc14.
