Dallas County Emergency Medical Services / Public Safety
Dr. Paul Pepe, Dallas County (Texas) EMS/Public Safety Medical Director, is also the global coordinator for the metropolitan EMS medical directors alliance (a.k.a.,"Eagles"). For decades he simultaneously served as a Professor of Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Public Health, Emergency Medicine and a high-level state/municipal EMS Official.
Co-founder and first nationally-elected President of NAEMSP, he pioneered EMS research for the past four decades with >500 scientific papers, including the “Chain of Survival”, "Auto-PEEP", permissive hypotension in trauma, re-appraising mouth-to-mouth in CPR, Chicago airport AED, first clinical translation of “heads-up CPR” and TEG-PM for COVID-19 coaglopathy studies. Renown for street-wise, system-based approaches to saving lives, he was named the 2020 NAEMT Medical Director of the Year and professional medical societies have called him the "most productive emergency medical services physician of our generation".
