Kiran Kumar Shivaiah, is currently working as research associate at Dr. Peter Lundquist’s lab. He is interested in the exploring proteins and lipids from plastoglobules. He is studying the changes in the plastoglobules during the abiotic stress on the plants. Currently, he is interested in learning the changes in plastoglobules from Eragrostis nindensis, a desiccation tolerant grass. With his PI and co-worker, he has written a review paper “Lipid droplets through the evolutionary tree”, which was published at Progress in Lipid Research journal. Dr. Shivaiah obtained his Ph.D from esteemed Iowa State University in 2018. He was part of Dr. Basil J Nikolau’s lab, and he worked on structure and functional relationships between the subunits of Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase enzyme. His work demonstrated on how a non-catalytic domain of ACCase influence the structural organization and kinetics of the holo-enzyme. He also worked on Acyl-CoA Carboxylase (AcCCase) from Thermobifida fusca. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
