Pediatric dermatologist James Treat, MD, works in close partnership with patients and families. He creates an open, comfortable atmosphere for them to ask questions and share their concerns. In dermatology, there are often many options for treatment. Dr. Treat explores those options with families. He tries to allay any fears and anxieties they have. And he works with patients to find the most effective, personalized therapy.
Dr. Treat specialized in dermatology because of the variety of conditions he can treat, from simple skin disorders to rare diseases. He enjoys the opportunity it gives him to make a difference in the lives of his patients. “I enjoy being able to see what I’m diagnosing and treating. And I love working with children and families. Whatever the skin condition is, it matters a lot to that patient and family in that moment. And that matters to me,” he explains.
Dr. Treat sees the field of dermatology evolving in exciting ways. "We now understand the genetics of many more conditions. And we have newer, more targeted treatments for many conditions." His main academic interest is in teaching and education. He brings this interest to his practice by putting patients at ease, helping them understand their condition, and finding the best path forward.
