Tom Mroz, FASLA, is a senior vice president with the integrated design firm, SmithGroup. He has spent his entire 35-year career at SmithGroup, and currently leads the firm’s Ann Arbor office. His work style encompasses an analytical approach and a passion for teamwork, with a strong belief that an integrated team can accomplish much more than any one individual. Tom’s career has been built on his interest in the business of landscape architecture, with a focus on business planning, growth and financial stability. Reflecting on his year as ASLA President, Tom states that he has been totally energized by the collective focus of everyone on developing a new strategic plan for ASLA to guide our path forward. He also notes, “my interaction with members around the country this year has confirmed my beliefs that the landscape architecture community is at a pivotal point and well positioned to tackle head on the biggest challenges of our time – climate action and social justice”.
