Managing waitlists in a children’s advocacy center (CAC) setting can be challenging and stressful. In this presentation, a clinician will discuss how the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center has used the power of a group setting to further facilitate healing for a large number of families. Attendees will learn about the implementation of group programming in a CAC setting, specifically how to facilitate TF-CBT groups (other therapy modalities will be briefly highlighted), and special considerations for serving families in a group setting in the ever-changing dynamics and regulations surrounding the global pandemic. The presentation will also address telehealth group therapy programming, discussing struggles of this format and offer encouragement and resources for success using telehealth for groups. This presentation is not just beneficial for mental health providers but for any member of the multi-disciplinary team to learn creative solutions on increasing the number of families who receive services.
