In this workshop the presenters will discuss their personal and professional experiences as crime victims. They will share the interconnectedness of Jacob Wetterling's abduction and murder which occurred 27 years ago, with their own victimization by the same offender, Danny Heinrich, who victimized many boys in Minnesota in the mid-1980's. They will underscore the importance of advocacy for abuse victims from the perspective of adult male survivors, including the perspective of a therapist versed in working with trauma victims. This workshop will only be recorded and available On-Demand from August 9, 2021 until December 17, 2021.
Participants will identify and describe various short and long term aspects of trauma resulting from the case.
Evaluate and discuss three positive characteristics, actions, or methods that promote resilience, persistence, and fortitude.
Participants will be able to name and describe 5 adverse childhood experiences and possible high risk outcomes resulting from ACEs and trauma.
Participants will be able to name and describe strategies to treat the effects of ACEs and trauma.
