Forensic Nurse Practitioner Taylor Forensic Consulting, LLC
Sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE) are registered nurses who are specifically trained to provide a trauma-informed approach care to adults, adolescents, and children by providing a thorough and complete medical examination to help identify acute and chronic illnesses and/or injuries. Initial training of SANEs was in sexual assault, however due to the evolving nature of child abuse, the SANE has additional training to be able to provide care and evidence collection in cases where children have been strangled, trafficked, tortured, drowned, and caught in the middle of interpersonal violence within the home. This presentation will demonstrate, through case studies, how the pediatric SANE can care for children who present for sexual abuse as well as a wide variety of other child abuse issues to improve the outcome for these children and their families. This workshop will only be recorded and available On-Demand from August 9, 2021 until December 17, 2021.
