Sex trafficking is perceived as a fluid crime with ever-changing methodologies utilized by traffickers and victims. The increased use of social media platforms and easy access to the Internet have created expanding opportunities for recruitment and advertising, as well as more simplified financial transaction methods. This presentation will teach attendees how to identify current sex trafficking trends and anticipate new ones. Additionally, this presentation will include topics surrounding peer-to peer on and offline recruitment methods, how to decipher emojis, current terminology used in sex trafficking, financial method tactics and deterrence methods to avoid law enforcement detection. Attendees will leave this presentation with a developed understanding of how to identify new sex trafficking trends, and a recognition of current tactics and technologies utilized by traffickers and victims.
