The criminal justice system relies on forensic psychology to provide input on the relative risk that a sexual offender presents to the surrounding community such that the court can assess if an offender needs to be sent to jail/prison or can be managed in the community, with or without specialized therapy. This presentation will focus on the basics of psychosexual assessments, how a psychosexual assessment is conducted, how to review the psychosexual report, assess for potential issues/pitfalls, and address it in legal documents as well as in the courtroom. This workshop will only be recorded and available On-Demand from August 9, 2021 until December 17, 2021.
Upon completion, participants will be able to evaluate and assess risk assessment evaluation reports.
Upon completion, participants will be able to develop cross examination strategies for risk assessment experts.
Upon completion, participants will be able in general to evaluate defendants using risk assessment factors.
