Jim Sears is a retired sergeant and thirty-year veteran of the Irving Police Department. He was a detective in the Child Abuse Unit for ten years before his promotion. Jim was also the supervisor for the Domestic Violence, Child Abuse Units. He is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (T.C.O.L.E) instructor, a regular Instructor at the Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas, the coordinator for Fox Valley/NCJTC for the Conducting Unexplained Child Death Investigations Program, an instructor for the Zero Abuse Project (ZAP), and an adjunct instructor for Tarrant County College. Jim is the 2011 recipient of the Lt. Bill Walsh Award from the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. He is also six-time recipient of the Nick Fowler Award from the Tarrant County College Police Academy.
