The ASAM/NADCP Integration Addiction Medicine in Treatment Courts

ASAM is partnering with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) through an Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) grant initiative to allow medical providers active with and new to the drug treatment court field access to training to help guide them in successful integration of services for individuals with substance use disorders involved in the justice system.
This course is funded by ONDCP and is offered complimentary to registrants. Attendees will be asked to provide post-course feedback, so please only register if you are able to attend.
Tobacco Cessation During Addiction Treatment Course

This course provides education essential for providers to screen, assess, diagnose, and provide evidence-based treatment for patients with tobacco use disorder during addiction treatment. This course will address common misconceptions that have limited the use of interventions for tobacco use disorder in an addiction treatment setting.

The ASAM Virtual Motivational Interviewing Workshop

The ASAM Motivational Interviewing Workshop is an engaging and interactive practice-based workshop designed to introduce and expand participants' knowledge and competence utilizing Motivational Interviewing (MI) in addiction treatment settings. MI is a goal-oriented, collaborative counseling style that evokes a person's own motivations for and commitment to change.
Physicians, clinicians, counselors, and all those speaking with patients with addiction often find that one of the main barriers to effective treatment is the patients' perceived lack of motivation to make changes. Without motivation on the patient's part, making or sustaining progress with treatment goals frequently stalls. MI is one technique that treatment clinicians can utilize to help patients make positive changes. Participants of this workshop will be introduced or reintroduced to the key concepts and skills of MI and explore ways to effectively integrate MI into addiction treatment to help promote positive patient outcomes.
