Dr. Whatley received her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineer from North Carolina State University in 2007 and her PhD in Bioengineering from Clemson University in 2013. Her PhD specialty was in Tissue Engineering and her dissertation focused on developing a biomimetic scaffold for bone tissue regeneration. After graduation, she did a short Post Doc at VCU before starting at FDA in 2014. Dr. Whatley has worked in the plaque modification devices team within the Division of Cardiovascular devices in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health her entire tenure at FDA, serving as the senior lead reviewer for 3 years. Her personal interests include running, playing with her dogs, cooking, traveling with her family, and NCSU sports.
