Dr. Nicole A. Cooke became the Augusta Baker Endowed Chair and an associate professor at the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science in 2019. Dr. Cooke is a 2012 graduate from Rutgers University with a Ph.D. in communication, information, and library studies. She holds the MLS degree from Rutgers University and a M.Ed. in Adult Education from Pennsylvania State University. Cooke was named a Mover & Shaker by Library Journal in 2007. She was awarded the 2016 ALA Equality Award, and the 2017 ALA Achievement in Library Diversity Research Award, presented by the Office for Diversity and Literacy Outreach Services. Her latest books are Information Services to Diverse Populations (Libraries Unlimited, 2016) and Fake News and Alternative Facts: Information Literacy in a Post-truth Era (ALA Editions, 2018).
