22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Virtual Holiday Observance and Sunrise Celebration

The 22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance and Sunrise Celebration commemorates Dr. King's legacy and recognizes the connection between his life's work and the library world.
The virtual event will feature selected passages from the works of Dr. King, a keynote address by Dr. V.P. Franklin, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History and Education at the University of California, Riverside, and author of the upcoming "The Young Crusaders: The Untold Story of the Children and Teenagers Who Galvanized the Civil Rights Movement" (Beacon Press, 2021). The call-to-action will be delivered by the 14th Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden. Member Leaders from multiple ALA Roundtables, Committees, and Affiliates will also participate as part of the celebration.
