Melissa is an instructor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she teaches courses in instruction, elearning, higher education, and reference. Melissa is passionate about creating online learning that is relevant and engaging through the use of authentic content and inclusive, accessible design. She is consistently recognized on the University’s “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students” and was the 2012 recipient of the Campus Award for Excellence in Online and Distance Teaching. Melissa’s book Instructional Design for LIS Professionals was published in 2019 by Libraries Unlimited. She is also the co-editor of Reference and Information Services: An Introduction, 6th edition (Libraries Unlimited, 2020) and co-author of Instruction in Libraries and Information Centers: An Introduction (Windsor and Downs, 2020).
