Dr. Askew is the Associate University Librarian - Newark, Rutgers University Libraries and has held leadership positions in a number of diverse, urban higher education institutions including, The City University of New York (CUNY), Florida International University, and Howard University. Although she has spent most of her career as an academic librarian, she is certified to work in public libraries in the state of North Carolina. She has served as Chair for the LLAMA, Assessment Community of Practice (2017-2018) and is currently a member of the Executive Board for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Library Alliance. She is a past participant of the Association of Research Libraries Leadership and Career Development Program, the Association of College and Research Libraries Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians and most recently, the UCLA Library Senior Fellows Program. Dr. Askew received her B.A. from Spelman College, a M.L.I.S from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and her Ed.D. from Florida International University.
