For over 40 years Allan M. Kleiman has been a library practioner, workshop leader, author, consultant, and library school instructor. He has been active in the American Library Association since he joined serving on Committees and Task Forces in ASCGLA, PLA and RUSA. Currently, he Chairs the ALA RUSA RSS Library Service to an Aging Population which is only one of two Committees within ALA that focus on this age group. He is the recipient from RUSA of the Margaret Monroe Award for his advocacy in promoting library services to older adults and represented ALA at the last White House Conference on Aging held in 2005. Allan developed the "Senior Spaces" project while he was at the Old Bridge, NJ Public Library which has been replicated by Libraries around the world. He currently is the Director of the Edison Public Library in New Jersey and co-authoring a book for ALA Editions on "Impactful programs for Older Adults."
