Program Officer American Library Association Chicago, Illinois
The past year was marked by constant change, ranging from the global health crisis to democracy protests throughout the world. Changes in social structures, organizations, behaviors, and values are inevitable--and libraries are not immune. The IRRT 2021 Chair’s program panelists will share their experiences on how libraries and librarians serving international populations respond to uncertain times within their communities, both at a grassroots level and more systemically. Panelists will share their experiences about the network of library volunteers and the World Health Organization partnership in response to COVID-19, how to establish and maintain international partnerships during the pandemic in academic libraries, and ways to promote literacy among children of immigrant and refugee populations via online programming in public libraries.
