Learn about the last three years of the South Carolina Library Association’s grassroots state advocacy planning through simple and effective goodwill campaigns, local state legislator office visits, and capitol hill meetings. Attendees will get an overview of library advocacy agenda best practices, three simple library advocacy goodwill campaigns, and resources on how to implement these efforts with little to zero budget. This session will benefit any type of enthusiastic library professionals seeking information on starting an advocacy plan in their own state, chapter leaders, and library funding advocates.
Participants will be able to learn how to implement goodwill campaigns in their own states that require little to zero funding from state library chapters.
Participants will be able to identify key concepts to include in their own state advocacy agenda by reviewing SCLA's 5 year advocacy plan and others from around the nation.
Upon completion, participants will be able to conduct local legislative office visits with little anxiety.
