FOLIO is an open community that includes librarians, vendors, and developers supporting the evolving needs of global libraries with a platform that serves us now and into the future. The FOLIO platform is based on a micro-services model and decouples bibliographic description from the MARC format. App development is prioritized based on needs identified by the library community. This panel of librarians from FOLIO academic institutions will highlight recent development milestones and upcoming new developments as FOLIO moves into more widespread production. The panel represents diverse perspectives from institutions who have already implemented selected FOLIO apps and institutions implementing a wider set of apps in the summer of 2021. Learn about what FOLIO offers in functionality, flexibility, innovation, and the exciting new possibilities it opens up for partnerships with other open source services.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the differences between the FOLIO open source library services platform and a traditional ILS.
Upon completion, participants will be able to outline features of a library services platform important to their organizations.
Upon completion, participants will be able to consider how a modern, flexible system affords the opportunity to reconsider workflows.
