The Wisconsin Historical Society Press has long-published American Indian histories and memoirs that spotlight the history and culture of Wisconsin's many tribes; Oneida, Potawatomi, Stockbridge-Munsee, Ojibwe, Potawatomi, Menominee, Mohican, Ho-Chunk, and Brothertown Indians among them. We will discuss our important work in acquiring and publishing American Indian history and culture with Society Press author Dr. Patty Loew, , an enrolled member of Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe, who is Northwestern University's Co-Director of Native American and Indigenous Research and author of our best-selling histories "Indian Nations of Wisconsin" and "Native Peoples of Wisconsin". Together we will introduce the ALA audience to our most critical reads for increasing cultural awareness, including Dr. Loew's best-selling titles as well as several memoirs, including: "How to Be an Indian in the 21st Century", "Rebel Poet"; "Little Hawk and the Lone Wolf", and "Good Seeds: A Menominee Indian Food Memoir".
