Dr. Herman joined University of Illinois-Chicago as a postdoctoral research associate in January 2021. She has worked with the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) since 2018, focusing on implementation of evidence-based health programming in community settings through NCHPAD’s inclusive Community Implementation Process as well as evaluation of NCHPAD initiatives, trainings, partnerships and activities. Through this work, she continues to support collaborations between researchers, community stakeholders, national organizations, and healthcare professionals. Previously, she worked with the UAB/Lakeshore Research Collaborative overseeing several federally funded projects addressing health and function of individuals with disabilities through exercise interventions and rehabilitation technology. She recently completed her PhD in Health Education/Health Promotion. Her research interests include implementation of evidence-based lifestyle interventions to improve health and quality of life of people with disabilities, community engagement in research, and inclusion of people with disabilities in community-based programming.
