Dr. Padgett has worked in rehabilitation psychology for the past 15 years, spending the last decade in the field of oncology. Her clinical work has been in community, academic and veteran oncology settings. Her research interests include addressing the psychosocial, cognitive and rehabilitative needs of cancer patients as well as decision-making in palliative care. Her work has contributed to the knowledge based through both original research, as well as through national implementation and training through the NCI Community Cancer Center Program, where she served as the Technical Expert for Cancer Survivorship and Palliative Care. Her professional goal is to build capacity for integrated cancer rehabilitation services in oncology by building multidisciplinary research and practice teams across disciplines and training future investigators in interdisciplinary research in cancer rehabilitation. She is currently a health psychologist at the Washington DC VA where she serves as Psychosocial Oncology Services Coordinator, and Program Director for Gerofit (an exercise program for older adults).
