Dr. Liu is the Director of the USC Neurorestoration Center and is engaged in a broad spectrum of efforts to develop new approaches to functional neurorestoration. This includes studies in the realm of regenerative medicine, neuroprosthetics, and neuromodulation/neurorehabilitation. He serves as a Professor of Neurological Surgery at USC, with courtesy appointments in the departments of neurology, psychiatry/behavioral sciences, urology, physical therapy/biokinesiology, and biomedical engineering. In addition, he is appointed as Visiting Associate at Caltech and serves as the Chief of Innovation and Research at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Institute. He received his BSE in Chemical Engineering, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and his PhD Chemical/Bioengineering at Rice University before completing his MD at Yale University. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the USC Affiliated Hospitals.
