Dr. Ichord is Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. She is the founder and director of the Pediatric Stroke Program and section head for neurocritical care consultation services at CHOP. A graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine, she completed pediatrics residency training at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC, and neurology training at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center. She was Neurology faculty at Johns Hopkins Medical Center from 1991 until moving to CHOP in 2002, where she led a multidisciplinary effort to establish one of the first regional pediatric stroke programs in the US in 2005. Related research and clinical program and educational interests include: childhood stroke (treatment, prevention, outcome), and pediatric neurocritical care (cardiac arrest, status epilepticus, traumatic brain injury). She participates in many teaching and research activities locally and nationally and has served on program committees for national meetings of the Child Neurology Society and American Stroke Association, and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, Pediatric Neurocritical Care Society and American College of Rehabilitation Medicine.
