Crossway Pediatric Therapy
Shelley Anne Dean, OTD, OTR/L is the owner and founder of Crossway Pediatric Therapy (EST. 2004) and Crossway Academy (EST. 2011). Dr. Dean completed her post professional doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) in May 2015 from Quinnipiac University. Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis in 1999. Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Indiana University in 1993.
Dr. Dean has specialized in pediatrics for over 20 years. In addition to the long term passion for treatment of autism, Dr. Dean's research is on a multi-component approach to treatment using contemporary neuromotor rehabilitation interventions to treat neuromotor involvements for children with hemiparesis secondary to stroke.
Dr. Dean currently serves on the board of International Alliance for Pediatric Stroke and charter member of the International Pediatric Stroke Organization. She is co-chair for Pediatric Rehabilitation Networking Group at the American Congress for Rehabilitation Medicine and serves on the leadership committee for the Pediatric Stroke Task Force at the ACRM. Historically, Dr. Dean served on the board of Autism Speaks and is still actively involved in community partnerships such as Best Buddies and Charlotte's charter schools.
Dr. Dean’s has also served as an adjunct professor at Winston Salem State University’s Program in Occupational Therapy and Cabarrus College of Allied Health Sciences and Pfeiffer University for the spring 2021. Dr. Dean continues to mentor Capstone projects at the doctoral and master’s level and participates in research both internally and externally at Crossway. Dr. Dean continues to contribute to special projects on request such as the I/EP for NMES for ACRM’s Archives of Physical Medicine. In addition, to the editing of the Pediatric Stroke Family Guide.
