Staff Psychologist and Clinician Investigator

Dr. Finn is a staff psychologist and clinician investigator at the Minneapolis VA HealthCare System, as well as an adjunct assistant professor in the University of Minnesota's Department of Psychiatry. He completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at Kent State University, his graduate studies in clinical psychology at The University of Tulsa, his predoctoral internship at the Minneapolis VAHCS, and his post-doctoral fellowship in clinical assessment at Kent State University’s Department of Psychological Sciences. Dr. Finn joined the Minneapolis VA Rehabilitation Psychology Team in December 2014. He currently serves as the site Principal Investigator for the VA TBI Model Systems national database. Dr. Finn's research focuses on 1) the bi-directional influences between illness/injury and mental health, specifically using dimensional models of psychopathology; 2) tailoring treatment based on patient's individual differences; and 3) the bi-directional influences between rehabilitation/recovery and interpersonal functioning. Dr. Finn also proudly provides psychological and personality assessments to the Veterans served by the Minneapolis VAHCS’s Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Program, Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program, and outpatient neurorehabilitation team.
