Taryn Richardson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Counseling and Mental Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She obtained her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Counselor Education (Counselor Education and Supervision) from The University of Iowa in 2018. She has clinical experience within mental health and vocational rehabilitation agencies. She also worked with an organization that offers HIV/AIDS support to the community as well as with transition-aged youth with intellectual, cognitive, and learning disabilities. Her research also focuses on professional identity and development of counseling professionals. She developed a model to explain counselor leaders’ development and meaning-making of significant experiences. Other areas of her research agenda include vocational behavior (e.g., work-related stress, burnout, satisfaction and emotions in the workplace) and enhancing quality of life for persons with disabilities.
