Dr. Cheryl Hickey is a proud Central Valley native, raised in the heart of its farming community. A first generation college student, she holds two Master’s, in Physical Therapy and Counseling, and a Doctorate in Education. Clinically, she was a therapist in the Leon S. Peter’s Rehabilitation Unit at Community Regional Medical Center as well as ICU, outpatient neurology and orthopedics.
Dr. Hickey is a Professor and the longest serving full-time faculty member currently in the department of Physical Therapy at California State University, Fresno. Dr. Hickey is chairs of the President’s Committee on Disability and Access and interested in issues of health care equality and access. She served as coordinator of clinical education; sole advisor to the departments Interdisciplinary Health and Rehab Services undergraduate major and has taught across curriculum in the Doctoral, masters and bachelors programs. Dr. Hickey is passionate about research, with publications relating to peripheral nerve stimulation for neuroplasticity and the effects of patient barriers and interdisciplinary underserved outreach. Dr. Hickey loves her church, serving the community and spending time with her amazing husband and their three awesome kids.
