Dr. Piper Hansen received her Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her Master of Disability and Human Development degree at UIC and completed her post-professional doctoral degree in occupational therapy at UIC in 2015 with a focus on knowledge translation in occupational therapy and assessment utilization. Her role at the University of Illinois at Chicago is as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, overseeing clinical fieldwork experiences. She continues to serve in the role of Practice Leader at Shirley Ryan Abilitylab where she has worked for over 16 years. Her scholarly work focuses on leadership and mentorship skill development, fieldwork education, knowledge translation and creating change in healthcare systems, and assessment and intervention in rehabilitation, and increasing the use of occupation focused assessments and interventions in rehabilitation.
