This presentation will focus on policy and advocacy in the area of orthotics and prosthetics in the context of the broader rehabilitation provider continuum. The legislative priorities and regulatory advocacy goals of both provider and patient stakeholders will be discussed in depth. The presentation will include a summary of research opportunities across the federal agencies including an update on the joint funded NIH/DOD Limb Loss and Preservation Registry. The objective of the presentation will be to educate ACRM members interested in orthotic and prosthetic care and the impact these policies are designed to have on both providers and patients alike. The presentation will also include information relevant to stakeholders and rehabilitation team members for persons with limb loss and limb difference who may not be directly associated with the provision of orthotic and prosthetic care.
