Psychometric analyses are commonly used to understand the interactions among symptoms that make up complex syndromes. This is especially useful for researchers assessing active duty service members and veterans who experience psychological distress (i.e. posttraumatic stress, depression, anxiety) concurrently with traumatic brain injury (TBI). This symposium will present work using latent factor and network analyses to investigate this overlap, and demonstrate their utility in identifying symptom presentation patterns for clinical use.
Understand the complex syndrome of co-occurring psychological distress and TBI and its challenges for military service members
Obtain an introductory understanding of psychometric analyses and techniques used to address these issues.
Understand how latent factor and psychometric network analyses can provide utility in rehabilitation research to improve care and outcomes for military populations with TBI.
