This symposium seeks to elucidate the spread and scale of knowledge in healthcare by outlining key principles from the business world and the field of implementation science. We will define and describe change management (Hiatt, 2006), heavily utilized within the business community and more recently penetrating healthcare (e.g., van Rossum et al., 2016), alongside central pillars from the field of implementation science (Brownson et al., 2018), sharing our real-world successes and challenges within the Military Health System. Using a practical approach and providing ample opportunities for analysis and application, providers and researchers alike will leave with a renewed sense of appreciation for the underpinnings of successful spread and scale, along with tools and templates to promote effective practices in their setting.
