In this symposium, we will examine gender inequalities in science considering causes, consequences, and barriers. Particularly, we will explore how such inequities impact gender and ethnic diversity in the academic rehabilitation community and reinforce health disparities to women as patients and workers. We will outline evidence-based strategies to empower women in Rehabilitation, mainstreaming underrepresented groups. This dialogue is crucial to forge effective actions - mainly in ACRM networking groups - towards the Sustainable Development Goal 5, "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls" by the year 2030.
