Session Overview: The speaker will discuss ethical issues in vaccine development, roll-out, and utilization, focusing on COVID-19 vaccines. Urgency due to the global pandemic and scientific progress led to rapid development and deployment of vaccines which presented ethical challenges. Almost a year after the authorization of novel COVID-19 vaccines, the speaker will discuss the state of vaccine distribution, what we know about the duration of effect, safety, and efficacy in persons with autoimmune disorders and in children, and ethical challenges in global distribution.
