Presentation Introduction: As indicated in the study commissioned by SAMHSA, accreditation of OTPs has been successful in advancing quality and standardizing practices through disparate regulations across states. Standards are updated annually and themes of challenging conformance identified. In addition, the pandemic has created unprecedented changes in how organizations function and deliver services. This session will provide an overview of standard updates as well as activities to bring these standards to life. To support attendees in understanding the interrelated nature of CARF standards, themes of frequently challenging standards will be reviewed with activities to provide examples of how to demonstrate conformance and overcome common challenges. Finally, we will review how planning standards support organizations in planning for change and crisis, with specific emphasis on technology and telehealth.
Accreditation of OTPs has long been recognized as critical to advancing quality to persons served. In order to continue to advance the field CARF standards are reviewed and updated annually. This session will focus on standard updates for the 2021 Standard Manual Year. This will also include a review of lessons learned from the newly implemented standards in the 2020 SMY (including interactive activities related to the new performance measurement and management standards).
CARF also frequently examines data on standards that organizations find frequently challenging. The session will include an overview of the themes of these standards, allowing attendees to understand how standards are interrelated. An activity will help attendees to learn examples of how to address the challenges of these standards. Finally, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought great changes to the field. We will review how CARF’s plans support organizations in preparing for and managing crises with a specific focus on technology planning standards and standards related to service delivery via the use of technology
