Wild Honey: Caring for Bees in a Divided Land
Sunday, March 21, 2021
5:30pm – 2:00am EDT
A film by Lisa Palmer. 2019. Australia. 30 minutes. Country/region featured: Timor-Leste and Indonesia border Q&A chat session with Lisa Palmer Wed, 03/24/2021 - 5:30p EDT
For more than a century, the island of Timor has been divided by a colonial border, a border that has displaced and separated the people of Lookeu, dividing their land, water and history. Timor’s migratory wild honey bees challenge this division. This film portrays a border community who, despite changing farming practices and increasing commodification, are determined to maintain the bees’ movement across the region and preserve their shared identity.
