Disclosure: Nothing to disclose.
This session is designed for OMSs and OMS staff to help educate them on how to best incorporate the use of telehealth technology and video conferencing into their practice. The recent COVID-19 pandemic taught that OMSs need to keep pace with other medical specialties that have adapted this technology into their practice. OMSs have an opportunity to expand access to care for their patients while improving the efficiency in their own clinical practice. There are concerns about the use of this technology, such as HIPAA compliance, malpractice implications and the resources required.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Use telemedicine practices in an OMS practice.
Demonstrate troubleshooting of some of the common pitfalls of using video teleconferencing to treat patients.
Identify those patients who are good candidates for use of telemedicine consults in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Manage the barriers to expanding telemedicine in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
