As awareness and acceptance of the transgender population in the United States increases, so does the need to provide gender-affirming care. This session will discuss treatment planning along with surgical and non-surgical options for facial gender affirmation. The session also will describe gender as it is understood today and the considerations necessary for incorporating facial gender affirmation into surgical planning. Various techniques and procedures for feminization and masculinization will be described in detail.

Define the differences between gender and sex while understanding the medications used during gender-affirming transition.
Identify the structural differences between male and female faces.
Select appropriate surgical and non-surgical intervention for facial gender affirmation procedures.
Describe the techniques for non-surgical facial masculinization and feminization.
Discuss the techniques for surgical facial feminization and masculinization.
