HPCI, the innovative High-Performance Computing Infrastructure, is a world top class supercomputing infrastructure built by the Japanese government. In the HPCI, the flagship system, Fugaku, and the systems of major universities and national laboratories throughout Japan are connected via a high-speed network.
This website introduces activities of the HPCI including the supercomputer Fugaku, and research achievements by awarded projects.

HPCI, Your Gateway to HPC

HPCI is open to the world. Applications from all researchers are welcome, from academia to industry*1. This site also outlines public call for projects which can access the HPCI supercomputing resources including the supercomputer Fugaku.
*1 PI from industry needs to belong to a private company registered in Japan.

What is supercomputer Fugaku?

A supercomputer being developed by RIKEN as the successor to the K computer. In June 2020, Fugaku has taken first place on four supercomputer performance ranking and has the best performance in the world. Full-scale operation is scheduled to start in fiscal 2021.

About US

Research Organization for Information Science and Technology (RIST) is a general incorporated foundation which has been carrying out usage promotion services of the High Performance Computing Infrastructure (HPCI) of Japan, commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). HPCI is a world top-class supercomputing environment with Fugaku and supercomputers from Japanese universities and research institutes connected by a high-speed network. RIST has taken a role as the operation office of the HPCI. Within a framework of HPCI, we are in charge of managing HPCI shared use computational resources and promoting usage, i.e. project selection, user support, and dissemination of research outcomes.
