Background -Written educational resources can be very helpful for patient and caregiver education. In order to keep the content current, updating the resource is vital. Objective - Redesigning the First Step Manual to reflect current knowledge and guidance for patients with limb loss / difference and caregivers Methods - A workshop with stakeholders representing multiple disciplines was convened to discuss and rewrite the First Step Manual. At the conclusion of the workshop, a task list was generated with weekly tasks to complete publication by Mar 2020, as the deliverable of a funded study. Results - First Step was exhaustively redesigned and published. The central theme identified was the patient journey. Limb loss and difference were represented for both upper and lower limb. Discussion - First Step compares favorably to other patient resource manuals. An ongoing survey of workshop participants and patients aims to identify utility /redesign.
