Dr Yang is a professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, a member of the Women and Children's Health Research Institute, and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute, University of Alberta, Canada. She is a physical therapist with doctoral and post-doctoral training in biomechanics and neurosciences. Her research interests centre on how the nervous system controls walking in people, and ways to retrain walking in individuals with neurological insults. Current interests include interventions for young children with perinatal brain injury using early, activity-intensive therapy, and interventions to improve mobility for adults with stroke or spinal cord injury.
