Target Audience The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of Basic Science Researchers, Neuro-Oncologist, Neurosurgeons, Statisticians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals involved in the treatment of patients with neuro-oncology.
Statement of Need/Program Overview The Society for Neuro- Oncology’s Annual Meeting is the largest and most influential meeting for multidisciplinary collaboration in the field of neuro-oncology. The latest advances in Central Nervous System (CNS) cancers are shared with an international audience that includes a variety of sub-specialties involved in basic & translational research, clinical as well as symptom management research. The meeting fosters opportunities to explore collaborations that will positively influence outcomes for patients with CNS cancers. This activity will be a collaboration of researchers and clinicians disseminating new knowledge to healthcare professionals in order to provide the highest quality of patient care to improve patient outcomes. The goal is to provide healthcare professionals with updated viewpoints, strategies, collaboration opportunities and an increased knowledge base to maximize treatment and management of brain tumor patients.
This year’s meeting will highlight the Vision for the Future of Neuro-Oncology. The pillars of the meeting will be on harnessing the use of biomarkers, tumor resistance, big data analysis, Immunotherapy, and COVID-19 and the impact on ongoing treatment. It is hoped that healthcare professionals will advance the treatment and management of CNS tumor patients.
The purpose of this conference is to provide those interested in the treatment and care of brain tumor patients with updated viewpoints and treatment strategies. Viewpoints and strategies include information on COVID, Immunotherapy, tumor resistance, and biomarkers.
Educational Objectives After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
Explain how to assess the mechanism of resistance to brain tumor therapy when determining strategies for novel therapeutic treatment options for patients.
Indicate how to incorporate biomarkers as an important component when selecting optimal treatment strategies for patients with tumors.
Explain how big data is gathered and the various algorithms used.
Describe how to apply big data outcomes to optimal patient care in the clinical setting.
Cite new advances in immunotherapy for brain tumor use.
