The Cybermedia Center at Osaka University is a Supercomputing center at Osaka University in Japan. It is located in Osaka, the west side of Japan.
[Mission]
We are in charge of providing researchers in academia and industries with a high-performance computing environment composed of large-scale computing systems as a national joint-use facility where scientists and researchers perform computation and information processing accompanied with academic research and education.
[Current Systems]
As of now, we as a have been operating two supercomputer systems: OCTOPUS (Osaka university Cybermedia cenTer Over-Petascale Universal Supercomputer) and SX-ACE systems. OCTOPUS has been operated since Dec. 2017 and the SX-ACE system since Dec. 2014.
These supercomputer systems are provided as a computing resource in High Performance Computing Infrastructure, or HPCI in Japan (https://www.hpci-office.jp/folders/english).
The SX-ACE system is now scheduled to be replaced with a new supercomputer system named "Supercomputer for HPC & HPDA and it will be started in operation from May 2021. We are still waiting for the public announcement pertaining to the procurement result.
The system would be composed of
General Purpose CPU nodes (Intel Xeon) [ 1520 nodes]
GPU nodes. (Intel Xeon and NVIDIA A100) [42 nodes]
Vector nodes (AMD EPYC and SX-Aurora TSUBASA) [36 nodes]
and
DDN EXA Scaler [HDD 20PB, NVMe 1.2PB]
on
Mellanox InfiniBand HDR ( 200Gbbps).
