City of Plainfield
Adrian O. Mapp is in his second term as Mayor of the City of Plainfield. An aggressive agenda marks his leadership, focused on rebuilding the city's economy and ensuring opportunity for all residents. This has led to a renaissance in Plainfield, characterized by over a billion dollars in redevelopment projects. He has successfully implemented progressive legislation focused on fairness and equality including new laws requiring paid sick leave for workers and seeks to address economic inequality, educational and health disparities through several significant initiatives.
The Consulate General of Ecuador in NJ honored mayor Mapp for bringing about change to the diverse cultures in the Plainfield community.
Mayor Mapp was a Plainfield Councilman for 12 years and a Union County Freeholder for two. He is the Director of Finance and QPA for the City of Orange. He serves on the Local Finance Board for the State of New Jersey, is Chairman of the NJ Black Mayors Alliance and the Central Vice President of the New Jersey Urban Mayors Association.
Mayor Mapp is married and has two daughters and two grandchildren. He holds an M.B.A. in International Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a B.S. in Accounting from Rutgers University, and an A.A. in Public Administration from Union County College. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO), and a Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA).
