This session is intended for anyone who believes they are ready to take on the role and responsibility of a company officer (captain, lieutenant, etc.) in 2020 and more importantly beyond. Being a company officer in today's world has never been more challenging and/or demanding. It takes what I call "Courage Under Fire Leadership" to be a solid, respected, credible and effective in today's fire service and today's world. Attendees who are current or future company officers will find some value to the information being discussed. Learn from the successes and failures of others (including myself), so you can be the best company officer you can be! Be that company officer that is a solid leader, follower, boss, supervisor and manager – just some of the various roles you will find yourself in.
At the end of the session, the participant will be able to define the role and responsibility of the company officer of today.
At the end of the session, the participant will be able to create personnel expectations appropriate for their situation.
At the end of the session, the participant will be able to identify the challenges of being a company officer both today and in the future.
