Given it can be difficult to find venues where IRB chairs can convene to discuss and wrestle with tough questions, this session will provide IRB chairs a forum to share ideas and best practices. Attendees will be surveyed on topics of interest to them, and speakers will provide a summary of each issue during the session. Any off-topic issues that arise during the discussion will be placed in a “parking lot” for later discussion, if time permits. This session will be hosted in Zoom and attendees are encouraged use the video and audio features to actively participate in the dialogue.
Review and discuss contemporary issues related to human subjects' protections that are commonly faced by IRB chairs, and that may not have clear guidance in the federal regulations
Share best practices, policies and procedures, forms, and methods that aid in resolving difficult issues presented by investigators and research study staff
Discuss real-world situations and problems attendees face with a focus on coming up with a few possible and concrete solutions
